Antel, Tata Communications join hands for cloud-based mobile and IoT services

The alliance aims to serve mobile and IoT providers across the Carribean, Central and South American markets.

Uruguayan telco provider Antel have joined forces with Indian ICT specialist Tata Communications to provide cloud-based mobile and IoT services to facilitators across the Carribean, South and Central American regions. With this partnership, Antel will be combining their data center prowess to fortify regional presence whereas Tata will be expanding their footprint across the American market.

According to Antel, the South American market has immense potential for growth when it comes to cloud technology. They say that quite a few early adopters have taken their cloud game ahead with IoT deployments and device integrations.

Antel claim that this has called for many ICT providers to take notice and tap into a market that is fairly new, but educated about the benefits of cloud and IoT.

By partnering with Antel, Tata believe that they will be providing IoT providers in the South and Central American markets with cloud-based mobile IoT services. They claim that with this deal, Tata Communications will be able to reach out to a different segment of global audience.

Antel say that the new cloud-based mobile and IoT services will minimize the total cost of ownership as well as the time-to-market applications. They further added that this alliance will help them position themselves as a ‘Mobile Virtual Network Facilitator’.

Industry analysts claim that this partnership might benefit Tata and Antel in the long run and secure their place in the South American market. It will be interesting to see how Antel and Tata make the most of this, following CyrusOne’s partnership with ODATA for LATAM expansion.
