CASB (Cloud Access Security Broker) firm Bitglass have partnered with Hitachi to provide enterprises in Japan with a wide range of cloud security products. This alliance, which is a part of Bitglass’ APAC expansion, gives them an entry into the Japanese market along with an arrangement to provide the CASB company with sales, marketing and technical support.
According to Bitglass, APAC has evolved into a mature market with enterprises aware of the need to deploy cloud environments. They also say that customers are quite knowledgeable about the security products that are required to protect these environments.
With these double benefits, the CASB firm decided to venture into the market with a player that shared the same vision as they did. Since they were looking for a partner that was well versed with the local nuances of the cloud market in Japan, they chose Hitachi to partly shoulder this responsibility.
Hitachi say that just as Bitglass examined possible synergies, they too went through rounds of assessment to gauge whether Bitglass would be the right partner.
Explaining this, Kenshiro Usami, General Manager, Security Solution Division, at Hitachi Solutions said that they went through a macro and a micro assessment of Bitglass and felt that the flexibility of services provided by the CASB company was like no other. He believes that with this association, Hitachi could consolidate their cloud security prowess and strengthen their partnership ecosystem within the Japanese market.
Bitglass say that with more enterprises adopting cloud-based tools, they are well poised to provide data protection without imposing obstacles or restricting enterprises with access to data. They say that it is this flexibility that has allowed the CASB firm to provide data protection to applications like Office 365, Salesforce and IaaS platforms like AWS, Azure and Dropbox.
It will be interesting to see how the alliance benefits both parties, following the CASB firm’s partnership with Brace168 for data protection.
