Cybersecurity provider eSentire have partnered with infrastructure company Cyxtera to protect IT assets of small and mid-sized enterprises. As per the terms of the deal, Cyxtera’s AppGate SDP will be integrated into eSentire’s managed detection and response service to deliver cloud security, better user-behaviour response capabilities and complete user-access control to customers.
According to Cyxtera, their AppGate SDP (Software Defined Perimeter) protects hybrid IT environments from virus attacks by laying secure boundaries. They say that this secure boundary restricts the number of cyber attacks on the cloud environments as well as wards off risks if any.
However, Cyxtera claim that this approach does not give small to mid-sized enterprises a holistic approach when it comes to cybersecurity. They believe that the product should also have detection and eradication capabilities to secure hybrid IT infrastructures.
By partnering with eSentire, Cyxtera believe that they will be adding MDR (Managed Detection and Response) capabilities to their product, only to make it complete. They claim that by integrating AppGate SDP into eSentire’s MDR, customers can ward off attacks as well as eradicate them after detecting and monitoring anomalies in the IT environments.
Speaking about this alliance, Kerry Bailey, CEO at eSentire, commented:
Cyxtera and eSentire share a common vision – that traditional security solutions and methods are challenged to secure the new highly distributed enterprise.
With this partnership, our joint customers gain modern security solutions that were built specifically for modern hybrid IT environments that span prevention, protection, and detection and response capabilities. Our customers look for our continued innovation to help them operate securely now and into the future.
