Software company Okta have partnered with tech giant VMWare in a bid to facilitate migration to the cloud for enterprise-level employees. With this alliance, VMWare’s Workspace ONE, a digital workspace platform will be integrated with Okta’s Identity Cloud to allow employees to manage cloud applications and on-premise solutions with ease.
According to VMWare, organizations are empowering their employees with applications to allow them to work from anywhere and from any device. They say that in order to make this a great experience for employees, organizations need to keep security at the fore to protect them.
By integrating Okta’s Identity Cloud into VMWare’s Workspace ONE, VMWare claim that they will address the concern of security to a certain extent. They also claim that customers will benefit from improved choice, flexibility and access to all the apps, services, and devices for digital workspaces, without compromising on protection.
Speaking about this in detail, Todd McKinnon, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder at Okta, commented:
Businesses need to equip their employees with the best tools and ensure their data is secure while doing so. As a result, IT leaders not only have to connect to and manage a variety of cloud apps and on-premises solutions, they also need to balance ease of use and security.
Together with VMware, we’ll offer our mutual customers a complete digital workspace experience, to enable every organization to adopt and secure the technologies they need to do their most impactful work.
VMWare have expressed their delight after entering into this partnership deal. Explaining this in detail, Noah Wasmer, Senior Vice President and General Manager, End-User Computing at VMware, said:
A digital workspace platform can provide the freedom and efficiency for employees to choose how and where they want to work. However, delivering a great end-user experience and security across a variety of device platforms while leveraging existing investments remains a challenge.
We’re excited to partner with Okta to deliver advanced identity capabilities for the digital workspace, and empower customers with maximum choice and the flexibility needed to get the job done.
To add on to this, Okta say that they have also partnered with Facebook to enable collaboration for employees at workplaces. They say that by partnering with Facebook, Okta’s Identity Cloud will be integrated with WorkPlace by Facebook to provide workers with access to apps and services via the Okta dashboard.
These double deals clinched by Okta are indicative of the rising demand for applications in the workspace. It will be interesting to see how Okta make the most out of these developments.
