NTT Security acquires cyber protection firm WhiteHat Security

The acquisition seeks to position NTT Security as a cybersecurity firm in order to move away from its telecom perception in the market.

Telecom giant NTT’s security firm NTT Security have acquired cyber protection provider WhiteHat Security in order to extend their security product portfolio. With this acquisition, NTT will be expanding across untapped markets to boost the cybersecurity prowess of businesses and position themselves as a facilitator of enterprise security.

According to NTT, enterprise security is gaining ground over most IT services since protecting data in various environments is the highest business priority. They say that as IT infrastructure evolves, enterprises need to adopt new technologies and products that go hand in hand with the same.

By acquiring WhiteHat Security, NTT believe that they will be achieving broader cybersecurity goals of enterprises such as endpoint detection and security, cloud storage security and digital transformation and migration. They claim that by taking this gameplan into the market, businesses will start taking them seriously as an end-to-end cybersecurity provider.

Speaking about the acquisition with WhiteHat, Katsumi Nakata, CEO at NTT Security states that WhiteHat’s global recognition will boost NTT’s position as an IT security facilitator. He believes that by bringing WhiteHat’s security capabilities to their portfolio, NTT will accelerate the digital transformation for customers.

Market watchers say that the acquisition will take NTT’s global presence to a higher level and allow them to cross-sell other products and services in new markets. It will be exciting to witness how NTT drive their growth from here on, following their acquisition of Transatel to boost IoT security.
