Data center company NGD (Next Generation Data) have announced that they are all set to expand their data center at the Cardiff campus in Wales. With this expansion, NGD say that they will be adding 250,000 sq.feet of space to the data center facility in a bid to cater to the global market.
According to NGD, the rise of data centers has put the onus on facility providers to offer their services at economical rates. They further added that with the increasing opportunity in the global market, catering to high-density demands is also critical.
NGD claim that by adding more facilities to the existing Cardiff campus, they will be able to fulfill this need gap that exists. They further added that this expansion has been possible after securing more than USD 170 million in new business. Explaining this, Simon Taylor, Chairman of NGD, commented:
NGD’s industry leading 16 week build out timescales and the financial resources of our funding partner Infravia Capital Partners is enabling us to respond extremely quickly to global market opportunities.
NGD say that even after this massive expansion, there is enough space for more amenities to be added in the future. They further revealed that they will be able to employ many people at Cardiff facility, boosting the economy of the region. Speaking about this in detail, Taylor added:
NGD employs over 50 personnel and with this latest major top floor expansion project is providing a further boost to the local economy.
We have over 500 construction workers on site plus around 120 further contractors providing IT and facilities management services. Our strong forward order book indicates that NGD will once again be a major source of local employment this year.
