Earlier today, Microsoft announced the launch of its first cloud regions in the UK. They have opened two Azure cloud regions and an Office 365 region in the United Kingdom.
The company claims that the launch will let local customers keep data in proximity which adds to customers’ comfort levels, cuts latency time and makes it simpler to comply with laws and regulations.
Nicola Hodson, GM of Marketing and Operations for Microsoft UK said :
We want to make sure that as many customers as possible have access to the cloud.
Sources say that the Office 365 U.K region is located in London and has two data centers, one each in London and Durham. The Microsoft policy however does not reveal how many Office 365 data centers are contained within the region.
