CyrusOne set to acquire Zenium Data Centers for USD 440M

The acquisition seeks to expand CyrusOne’s presence in the European markets in a bid to meet a strong demand across the continent.

Telecom giant

Data center colocation service provider CyrusOne is all set for a USD 440 million acquisition of Zenium Data Centers in order to ramp-up their presence in Europe. With this acquisition, CyrusOne will gain access to Zenium’s London and Frankfurt data centers which happen to be Europe’s largest data center markets.

CyrusOne say that the acquisition will put them at an advantage while dealing with Zenium’s hyper-scale clients. They further added that Europe was always on their radar ever since they had their own data center in London. Speaking about the expansion plan for Europe, Gary Wojtaszek, President, and CEO of CyrusOne said:

The capacity for further growth at their (Zenium’s) existing locations remains substantial, allowing us to nearly double the size of their business, and we will be able to leverage the European infrastructure to expand within London and Frankfurt and into new markets in an efficient, cost-effective manner.

Thrilled on having CyrusOne as partners in Europe, Franek Sodzawiczny, Zenium’s founder, and CEO commented:

We look forward to realizing the benefits of our combined expertise and similar operating philosophies as we continue to broaden CyrusOne’s footprint to capture growing European demand.

According to industry watchers, CyrusOne is leaving no stone unturned with their data center investment in Atlanta, U.S and this acquisition made in Europe. The acquisition deal, CyrusOne say, is expected to close in the first quarter of 2018 subject to regulatory approvals.
