Announced last week, UK based network and cloud services provider Interoute has launched a new global cloud storage service which functions on integrated object storage technology from American data storage specialist Cloudian. HyperStore, which is Cloudian’s flagship object storage API, will now be offered to enterprise customers of Interoute’s virtual data centers as part of the Interoute Virtual Data Center (VDC) cloud platform.
According to Interoute, the company selected Cloudian’s HyperStore for its new cloud storage service because of HyperStore’s scale-out capabilities, industry-leading S3 API compatibility and multi-tenancy features. Interoute also say that the integration of Cloudian’s HyperStore with its cloud platform will provide its customers with a fast and reliable cloud-based storage option for unstructured data backups and archiving purposes.
Explaining the business thinking behind the launch of the new service, EVP of Products and Development at Interoute, Mark Lewis, stated:
With GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) looming large in 2018, as well as the rapid adoption of VDC and SaaS platforms, our customers are revisiting the legacy world of physical backup and archiving and demanding a simple, controlled, auditable cloud service. So, we’ve created an easily accessed and integrated, cost effective object storage service to support their digital transformation.
Meanwhile, CMO at Cloudian, Jon Toor, talked up the new collaborative service:
With Cloudian, Interoute is offering its customers choice in limitlessly scalable and cost effective storage, a foundation that is proven scalable and reliable in some of the world’s largest unstructured data stores.
The Cloudian deployment is now available across the entire Interoute network of 17 virtual data centers globally.
