Security behemoth Symantec have acquired Luminate to strengthen their own cloud security capabilities. As per the terms of the deal, Symantec will be leveraging Luminate’s SDP (Software Defined Perimeter) prowess to provide their customers’ IT architecture with network level protection.
According to Symantec, enterprise security is dependent on many factors and network security is one of the most important of all the factors. They believe that network loopholes, lack of system integration and network level vulnerabilities are some key reasons for viruses entering IT architectures.

Further, Gerry Grealish, Symantec’s Head of Product Marketing and Network Security says that they are extremely happy with this deal since it adds more capabilties to their product portfolio. He believes that this move will help them upsell and cross-sell their products through various channel partners as they expand across cloud-hungry markets.
In closing, neither entities disclosed financial terms of the deal. It will be exciting to see hoe Symantec take this further, following the acquisitions of Javelin and Appthority weeks ago.
