Data center provider OneAsia have partnered with Megaport to provide enterprises in Hong Kong with multi-cloud capabilities. As per the terms of the deal, OneAsia and Megaport will launch Express Connect to Any Cloud (ECAC), a new service to provide enterprises with on-demand connections to cloud providers, by leveraging Megaport’s network.

According to OneAsia, Hong Kong’s cloud market has evolved by leaps as a result of enterprises adapting to the changes and trends rather quickly. They say that the proximity to China, Japan and South Korea has brought the best out of the Hong Kong market with competitive forces factoring in.

OneAsia claim that the rise in cloud adoption, coupled with the need for multi-cloud capabilities has created a huge demand for on-demand cloud services. In order to meet this latent need, OneAsia say that partnering with Megaport was the right decision since the latter has a huge network of data centers equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.

Megaport claim that OneAsia will be able to leverage their SDN (Software Defined Network) services that provide customers with connections to over 100 cloud facilitator, privately. They also say that OneAsia’s Kowloon Bay Data Center in Hong Kong is strategically located to ensure that this connection is easily available.

Charles Lee Founder and CEO of OneAsia claims that in a bid to lower operational costs across IT systems, enterprises are turning to the cloud. He says that with this partnership, enterprises will be able to realise this goal by moving their mission-critical workloads into their choice of the cloud environment in real time, through a single point of contact.

Megaport say that they are pleased to partner with an ambitious enterprise such as OneAsia and are looking forward to connecting thousands of enterprises to multiple cloud providers. Vincent English, CEO at Megaport claims that such alliances help them break the obstacles enterprise face when it comes to cloud adoption.

It will be interesting to see how the partnership benefits Megaport, following their alliance with Schnieder and APDC to strengthen their data center prowess in APAC.
