Today, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg updated his page with pictures of Facebook’s data center which is located in Luleå, Sweden. Zuckerberg shared photos of the facility which he said takes advantage of the low temperatures and hydro-electric plants which operate on rivers in the region to “increase efficiency” and “save power”.
Zuckerberg said, through his page on Facebook, that this Luleå data center is the size of six football fields and uses enormous fans to “pull in the outside air to naturally cool the thousands of warm servers that line the center’s broad hallways”.
Zuckerberg added :
You probably don’t think about Luleå when you share with friends on Facebook, but it’s an example of the incredibly complex technology infrastructure that keeps the world connected.
I’m looking forward to sharing photos of more of our advanced technology soon.
