Domain registry

Donuts, the registry for .LTD, .CAFE, .CITY and other new domain extensions, today made the ‘dot-shopping’ (.SHOPPING) domain extension available to the public. The Registry claims that this extension provides online retailers, brands, businesses and shopping websites with an opportunity to have a separate identity using “not-com” domain names.

Donuts said that e-commerce sales have grown more than 7 percent in 2015 as retailers continue to seek opportunities to attract customers in a competitive market.

Paul Stahura, CEO, Donuts said :

The ‘dot-shopping’ name gives sellers a fresh canvas for establishing descriptive and relevant online identities for their products, services and operations and a way to stand out from the competition.

He also said that brands can also use a .SHOPPING extension to point to their existing website or for a marketing or promotional site.

The Registry provided CalvinKlein.shopping and YvesSaintLaurent.shopping as two examples of companies that use .SHOPPING extension for their brands. They also mentioned that established brands like Gucci, Nike, Patagonia, Stella McCartney, Valentino, Victoria Beckham and others booked more than 400 registrations during the recently concluded 60-day Sunrise period.

Stahura added :

With a domain name ending like ‘dot-shopping,’ you’re telling the world exactly what kind of service you provide to your customers.
