Tech giants Microsoft have acquired U.S based cloud company Avere Systems in a bid to provide hybrid solutions to the media and entertainment industry. Microsoft say that with this acquisition they will be deploying Avere’s innovative combination of file system and caching technology to support the requirements of media and entertainment companies that run large-scale computing workloads.
Microsoft say that this acquisition is in tandem with their cloud strategy that focuses on enabling enterprises with on-premise, public and private cloud solutions. They further added that with this acquisition, they will extend the advantage provided by Avere to other industries like oil and gas, finance, education and life sciences as well.
Delighted with this deal, Ronald Bianchini Jr. President and CEO of Avere Systems said:
Our customers efficiently share both storage and compute resources across multiple data centers, and effectively implement and use private and public cloud infrastructures.
Industry experts speculate the impact this deal would have on Avere’s current customers. According to Microsoft, the deal is set to be finalized in the coming months subject to regulatory approvals.
