This week, ICANN announced details about its first DNS event called the ICANN DNS Symposium. The event will be held in Madrid, Spain on Saturday, 13th May, 2017.
ICANN says that the DNS Symposium is a one-day event focused on all aspects of the Domain Name System (DNS). It invites members of the ICANN organization to explore ICANN’s current initiatives and projects relating to DNS research, operations, threats, counter measures and technology evolution.
The event is important as ICANN last year became the guardian of the DNS system on the Internet, taking over functions that were previously executed by IANA.
ICANN says that the event is for those who have a foundational understanding of DNS and an interest in DNS operations, engineering, research and standards development or operational security.
The event also follows GDD Summit, the annual ICANN event which will be held from 9th to 11th May, 2017 in Madrid as well.
