Tech giant Google Cloud have acquired big data analytics startup Cask Data in a bid to strengthen the former’s cloud platform. With this acquisition, Google Cloud will allow its enterprise customers to build solutions on their cloud platform by leveraging Hadoop based big data analytics provided by Cask Data.
According to Google Cloud, big data and analytics are a proven tool when it comes to providing enterprises with a business advantage. They also claim that developers become more productive with the help of big data in the cloud as well as on-premise.
By integrating Cask Data’s application platform into their own platform, Google Cloud say that building and running big data solutions will become much easier for enterprise customers. Speaking about the acquisition, William Vambenepe, Group Product Manager for Google Cloud, commented:
We’re thrilled to welcome the talented Cask team to Google Cloud, and are excited to work together to help make developers more productive with our data processing services both in the cloud and on-premise. We are committed to open source, and look forward to driving the CDAP (Cask Data Application Platform) project’s growth within the broader developer community.
Echoing Vambenepe, Jonathan Gray and Nitin Motgi, founders of Cask Data, commented:
We are thrilled to announce that Cask Data, Inc. will be joining Google Cloud! We will continue to develop and release open source CDAP that makes building and running big data solutions easy for enterprise customers.
