Equinix has gone live with it’s latest IBX data center, SY4 in Sydney. This is their fourth data center in the city and fifth in Australia. They are already catering to 20 customers including Servers Australia, Zettagrid, Connectivity IT and The Grex Group.
Nathan Harman, Managing Director of Zettagrid, says :
Equinix’s new SY4 facility was an obvious choice for us. With broad access to the leading network service providers, the Equinix campus enables us to continue to build the most compelling solutions for our customers.
SY4’s state of the art design means we can offer our customers the most resilient platform on the market.
The latest facility is Equinix’s 146th data center globally, with 1,500 data center cabinets and the company anticipates a second-phase expansion to 3,000 cabinets across 12,500 square meters.
Jeremy Deutsch, Managing Director of Equinix Australia, says :
Co-location is now the center for the new hybrid IT model and we’re pleased to see more Australian enterprises actively looking for the best way to leverage their architectures and capitalize on cloud services.
They’re recognizing the limitations of on-premise data centers, and making the move to leverage highly interconnected solutions that connect their people, clouds and data.
Jeremy also added that the opening of SY4 is Equinix’s response to growing demand from Australian businesses for co-location, hybrid cloud and greater interconnection.
