Equinix acquires IO UK’s data center business

The acquisition is to meet the growing demand for digital infrastructure in UK and Europe

Equinix, the global interconnection and data center company announced that it has acquired IO UK’s data center operating business in Slough, United Kingdom. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The agreement was signed on January 7, 2017 and the acquisition was completed on February 3, 2017. Equinix announced that the facility will be renamed LD10 and is in close proximity to its existing Slough data center campus.

The company says that the acquisition will help them meet the growing demand for digital infrastructure connectivity in the United Kingdom and Europe. IO UK’s facility is a development phase asset, which was opened for business in 2015. The company added that the facility will increase its sold capacity by 350 cabinets and a total co-location space of approximately 3,340 cabinets once it is completely built out.
