DigitalOcean unveils managed Kubernetes services for enterprises

With the Kubernetes integration, DigitalOcean seeks to simplify container orchestration for web developers without charging additional costs.

Cloud provider DigitalOcean have launched managed Kubernetes services for web developers and enterprises in a bid to simplify container orchestration. With this launch, DigitalOcean will manage the Kubernetes control panel on behalf of the developer at no additional costs.

According to DigitalOcean, enterprises are deploying container systems with an aim to accelerate application orchestration and maintenance. They say that Kubernetes, being one of the most deployed container systems because of its benefits, allows developers and enterprises to get their applications in the market as soon as possible.

However, DigitalOcean claim that a large part of the web professional and SMB community felt that deployment and management of Kubernetes is difficult. In order to simplify the same, DigitalOcean unveiled managed Kubernetes services for these segments with no additional costs.

DigitalOcean say that to deploy their managed Kubernetes services, enterprises and developers can define the size and location of their worker nodes before running the container clusters. Explaining the benefits provided by the managed services, DigitalOcean explained that they will facilitate:

  1. Fully configured worker nodes,
  2. Seamless integration with block storage and worker node protection with firewalls,
  3. Integration with load balancers, and
  4. Continuous integration and streamlining of the application development process

It will be interesting to see how the cloud provider makes the most of this launch, following their alliance with Snyk to tackle open source vulnerabilities.
