Co-location facilitator Datacenter.com have partnered with carrier-neutral fiber-optics provider Cogent Communications in a bid to expand their data centers in Europe. According to the terms of this alliance, Cogent will establish a POP (Point-of-Presence) at Datacenter.com’s AMS1 (Amsterdam) campus to provide data center services to businesses in Europe.

Datacenter.com say that by adding Cogent’s POP at their data center campus, they will be able to meet high redundancy and high volume bandwidth requirements set by cloud-native clients. They further added that scaling across Europe will become much easier by meeting these expectations of customers.

By partnering with Cogent, Datacenter.com say that their 54,000 sq.feet campus at Amsterdam will attract more cloud-adopting customers from Europe. Speaking about the expansion, Stefan Arbias, Sales Director Europe at Cogent Communications, commented:

Cogent has a truly global network presence with a highly redundant network design and enormous volumes of cost-efficient bandwidth available. Deploying a PoP in Datacenter.com’s recently commissioned AMS1 facility adds to Cogent’s facilities-based global network.

Expanding our footprint in Amsterdam is important to Cogent, as the Amsterdam metropolitan region is an important Internet hub for our clients. Here, Datacenter.com surely is strategically located, in the Amsterdam South-East business district, one of the most fiber-dense areas in the world.

According to Datacenter.com, adding Cogent to their portfolio will strengthen their offerings in a bid to further their expansion globally. Speaking about the alliance, Jochem Steman, CEO of Datacenter.com, commented:

Extending Cogent’s global fiber-optic network into our Amsterdam AMS1 colocation data center is critical to our strategy of building rich connectivity offerings in this facility and Datacenter.com’s soon to be deployed facilities elsewhere in the world.

Cogent’s high volume, low-latency bandwidth offerings and the cost-efficiency of its network services will definitely cater to the needs of our customers including cloud providers.
