Celcom, Microsoft partner to drive 5G for enterprises in Malaysia

The alliance aims to modernize platforms for businesses that are looking to transform themselves digitally.

Tech giant Microsoft and telecom firm Celcom have joined forces in order to boost 5G services in Malaysia. As per the terms of the deal, the entities seek to help enterprises in the region by simplifying cloud migration for them and coming up with innovative 5G-based products.

According to Celcom, Malaysia as a region have been lucky to witness a massive cloud boom. They say that the key drivers for this change have been internet penetration, the rise of IT infrastructure and quick adoption of enterprises for cloud connectivity.

With these drivers still dominating the IT scenario in Malaysia, Celcom claim that enterprises are now looking to migrate their cloud apps on platforms that are powered by 5G. Hence, in a bid to simplify the migration of these applications and workloads to cloud platforms, Celcom say they chose Microsoft as their partners.

By partnering with Microsoft, Celcom say that they will be able to leverage the former’s Azure platform that will be integrated with their telecom services which will soon be 5G enabled. They further added that this alliance will help them ease cloud migration for traditional enterprises in the region.

Industry experts claim that the partnership will benefit enterprises in Malaysia and allow them to migrate their workloads easily. With this alliance, one can say that the cloud and 5G market in Malaysia will receive a huge boost, following the partnership between WISeKey and Censof.
