Acer Cloud unveils ‘Being Device’ to nurture IoT ambitions of businesses

The platform seeks to manage system integrators and managed service providers in a bid to resolve device management issues faced by enterprises.

ICT firm Acer have launched Being Device, a device management platform for managed service providers to control the growing number of IoT integrated devices for business. With this platform, Acer seeks to facilitate an all-in-one solution, across industries, that drives operational efficiency via software provisioning and remote troubleshooting.

According to Acer, businesses leveraging the cloud put IoT into their IT mix to boost device connectivity. These devices, they say, help businesses to optimize the performance of their applications and accelerate their workloads.

Acer claim that they partnered with Axiomtek, NEXCOM, IBASE, Shuttle and AOPEN to provide an all-in-one device management platform that helps vendors and system integrators to drive operational efficiency. They say that this platform will enable businesses from all sectors to deploy, monitor, organize, update and troubleshoot their connected devices at any scale.

Since the platform was developed to resolve efficiency issues, Acer believe that Being Device is adaptable in various implementations like digital signages, point of sales systems, airport kiosks, etc. They claim that business opting for unified platforms will not have to worry about vendor lockins that disallow them from using other services.

In closing, Acer said that the platform will be available across Windows, Linux as well as Android systems. It will be exciting to see how Acer take this platform ahead, following Siemens’ partnership with HCL for an IoT platform called MindSphere.
