CRM software giant Salesforce have acquired application network platform provider Mulesoft for USD 6.5 billion. With this acquisition, Salesforce will leverage on Mulesoft’s API connecting platform in order to expand their global footprint.
According to Salesforce, businesses are asking for data and information to be integrated across the public and private cloud to unlock intelligent customer experiences. They also say that by acquiring Mulesoft, Salesforce’s cloud platform will enable enterprises with access to data, regardless of its location, to create one-to-one personalised experiences.
Explaining this, Marc Benioff, CEO at Salesforce commented:
Together, Salesforce and MuleSoft will enable customers to connect all of the information throughout their enterprise across all public and private clouds and data sources – radically enhancing innovation.
Salesforce say the acquisition will give them access to Mulesoft’s 1200 customers. They further added that this acquisition will fortify their position in the market while competing with the likes of Microsoft and Oracle.
Excited about the acquisition deal, Greg Schott, CEO at MuleSoft said:

Industry experts claim that since both organizations are young, fast-growing and committed to SaaS, they seem to be a good fit. In closing, Salesforce added that the deal should be done by 21st July 2018, subject to mandatory regulatory procedures.
