Tech giant Cisco have completed the acquisition of cloud communication company BroadSoft for USD 1.9 billion. Through this part-cash part-investment deal, Cisco will gain access to BroadSoft’s contact center clients, integrating them with calling, meeting, messaging and customer care solutions provided by Cisco on the cloud.
According to Cisco, businesses have increasingly resorted to cloud-based calling and messaging solution to reduce commute and save time. They further added that the market for such solutions is growing and BroadSoft’s acumen and experience in this space will provide their cloud portfolio a huge boot. Explaining the same in detail, a spokesperson from Cisco commented:
More and more businesses expect fully featured calling, meeting, messaging and contact center solutions with the ability to deploy them flexibly – on premises, in the cloud or as hybrid solutions to leverage existing investments.
By combining BroadSoft’s open interface and standards-based solutions primarily delivered via Service Provider partners, with Cisco’s existing portfolio, the combined company will offer best-of-breed solutions for businesses of all sizes which will be delivered through VAR and Service Provider partners. Together, Cisco and BroadSoft will deliver a full suite of rich collaboration experiences to power the future of work.
