This month, web hosting platform provider cPanel has announced that it has partnered with Comodo to enable automated SSL encryption for its customers.

cPanel says that about 90 percent of websites do not have SSL encryption which risks sensitive data and it has introduced AutoSSL to automatically issue SSL certificates to its web hosting partners’ websites as a remedy to this vulnerability.

Secure Socket Layer/Transport Layer Security (SSL/TLS) certificates help to enable encrypted data transfer across the web. Since the beginning of the web era, the small padlock icon in web browsers indicates if a site is secured with SSL/TLS.

J. Nick Koston, CEO, cPanel said :

We’re providing encryption through Domain Validated cPanel certificates at no additional charge to the cost of our software because we think it’s that important to secure the Internet.

Our goal is to help build a more secure Internet, and to get there, we’d like all of our existing customers to enable AutoSSL.

AutoSSL is an automation feature included with cPanel & WHM version 60 and later. It discovers and deploys DV cPanel SSL certificates automatically to all websites, logins and endpoints on the server.
