Telecom company CenturyLink have launched Cloud Connect Dynamic Connections to simplify enterprise cloud network across data centers. With this launch, CenturyLink seeks to provide enterprises with increased control over their networks as well as the ability to monitor connections through an on-demand secure portal or an API integration.
According to CenturyLink, enterprises deploying cloud services and data center networks need a fast, simple and effective solution to link their data centers to cloud service providers (CSPs). They believe that enterprises need a ‘single-pane-of-glass’ like solution that can help them manage the performance of their IT apps and infrastructure.
By unveiling Cloud Connect Dynamic Connections, CenturyLink believe that they will provide on-demand and real-time network connections between enterprise locations, public data centers and CSPs globally. They also claim that this solution will cut through issues pertaining to inter-data center connectivity that are generally seen in traditional networks.
Speaking about the launch, Paul Savill, Senior Vice President of core network and technology solutions at CenturyLink, commented:

Explaining some core benefits of Cloud Connect, Century link say that the solution enables the creation and deletion of private Ethernet connections to foster connection across hybrid cloud workloads as well as public cloud providers like AWS, Microsoft etc.
Fedor Smith, an industry analyst and President of telecommunication company Atlantic-ACM, commented:
Delivery of a traditional switched Ethernet circuit, from contract sign to turn up, averages close to 60 days for many carriers, making services such as CenturyLink’s Cloud Connect Dynamic Connections, which can turn up the same service in a matter of minutes, incredibly valuable.
The on-demand environment enabled by cloud services will no longer be shackled by the time restraints of traditional network implementation or limited to inter-data center connectivity.
Industry experts opine that telecom companies are taking right measures to support their overall IT infrastructure and cloud network in the form of product launches and expansions. This move is quite similar to the data center extension done by NTT to support its hybrid cloud customers.
