New gTLD giant Donuts Inc. has relaunched their .TRAVEL nTLD (new-Top Level Domain) in order to simplify the registration process for the domain. With this move, Donuts seeks to align themselves with the growth witnessed in the travel industry, where sales through digital medium alone are poised to cross USD 200 billion.
According to Donuts, the registrations of the .TRAVEL domain were not up to the mark after launch since the process was stringent and complicated. They say that this process served as a major pain point for many travel businesses who wanted to register the domain.
By relaxing the registration process, Donuts believe that they will entice a new set of customers looking to leverage their online presence with the .TRAVEL domain. They claim that they are betting on the right horse with .TRAVEL, given the steep growth of the travel industry.
Marketing research firm eMarketer claims that the digital sales alone for travel industry will surpass USD 200 billion by 2019. Speaking about the move, John Pollard, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Donuts’ registry, commented:
Travel is a thriving category and the .travel TLD is the centerpiece of a high-quality portfolio that includes .cruises, .flights, .rentals, .holiday, .reise, .reisen, .tours, .vacations, .viajes, .voyage and more. By simplifying the registration process, we’ve expanded the availability and accessibility of .travel.
