Tech giants Dell and Microsoft have entered into an alliance to help customers simplify deployment to end-to-end IoT solutions. As per the terms of this partnership, the joint IoT solution will combine Azure apps and services, VMware Pulse IoT Centre and Dell Edge Gateways to allow customers to control, monitor and secure devices for the cloud.
According to Microsoft, businesses are looking for effective ways to leverage the power of IoT. They also claim that customers are looking for solutions that function end-to-end and not in a silo.
In order to provide a holistic solution, Microsoft claim that coming up with a solution that will meet the customer’s needs was necessary. With this new IoT solution, Microsoft say that their Azure IoT Edge will provide cloud intelligence, VMware Pulse IoT Centre will provide management and monitoring capabilities, whereas Dell Edge Gateways will provide connectivity for a variety of wired and wireless devices.
With this combination, Microsoft say that the new offering will help organizations in situations like predictive maintenance and supply chain visibility.
Speaking about the alliance and the new IoT solution, Chris Wolff, Head of OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and IOT GTM at Dell EMC, commented:
We committed to leaning on the Dell Technologies family of businesses to engineer the right solutions to meet customer needs in conjunction with our partner ecosystem. This collaboration will enable customers to implement IoT more seamlessly, for better and faster ROI.
Speaking about the partnership deal, Ruston Panabaker, Vice President of IoT Solutions at Microsoft, commented:
By delivering this integrated edge to cloud solution, Microsoft and Dell technologies are making it easier for customers to empower their employees, optimize operations and reimagine their products, services or even business models.
