Samsung SDS to build data center in Seoul

The data center seeks to offer big data and artificial intelligence services in order to compete in the cloud computing market.

Tech giant Samsung’s IT and Consulting SBU Samsung SDS has announced that they will be building a new data center in the South Korean city of Chuncheon, near Seoul. With this data center, Samsung SDS will be providing AI (Artificial Intelligence) and Big Data services to the emerging market of cloud computing in South Korea.

According to Samsung SDS, the business dynamics in South Korea are changing with the advent of new cloud-based technologies. They further added that businesses are leveraging the power of AI and Big Data to meet cloud computing demands.

Samsung SDS say that the new data center will be furnished with state-of-the-art equipment and span an area of 39,780 sq.meters. They also claim that this eco-friendly data center, which will serve their affiliates as well as new businesses, will be able to compete in the cloud computing market with its latest technology. Emphasizing this, Hong Won-Pyo, CEO of Samsung SDs commented:

It will be an eco-friendly center that can bring about best performance and will allow the company to compete in the cloud computing market.

The data center is poised to go online in the second half of 2018 revealed Samsung SDS in closing.
