Today, Hurricane Electric, a global Internet service provider offering IPv4 and IPv6 services announced the launch of a new Point of Presence (PoP) at the RSA Dexter Avenue Data Center. The facility is located in Montgomery, Alabama and is the company’s first PoP in the state.

The acquired data center is a 44,000 sq.ft. facility which the company claims is equipped to handle the demands of mission-critical operations.

The company also pointed out that the federal, state and local government agencies comprise one-quarter of Montgomery’s workforce, due to which the city and surrounding regions have experienced an increasing demand for faster Internet connectivity and additional capacity. The RSA Dexter Avenue Data Center was opened in 2012 to help meet this demand.

Mike Leber, President, Hurricane Electric said:

Hurricane Electric is delighted to extend its global network to help support the many businesses and government organizations that make up Montgomery’s economy.

As Alabama steadily cultivates a growing IT industry, we’ve seen a strong rise in demand for affordable high-speed Internet transit in the state.

With the launch of Hurricane Electric’s latest PoP, the company says that commercial entities, government agencies and educational institutions in the greater Montgomery area will be able to choose from additional connectivity options and tap into Hurricane Electric’s global network.
