GoDaddy acquires WorldHostingDays and NamesCon

The two prominent domain industry conferences will now be owned by GoDaddy

cloud commerce

As reported earlier, GoDaddy was in the news for acquiring Host Europe Group (HEG), which has been confirmed and evaluated at €1.69 Billion (USD 1.79 billion). The company has also acquired domain industry conferences NamesCon and WorldHostingDays as part of the deal.

The deal is expected to close in the second quarter of 2017.

Blake Irving, CEO, GoDaddy said :

GoDaddy has successfully expanded its international business to 56 global markets over the past four years.

By joining forces with HEG, we accelerate our expansion into Europe with the delivery of a broader range of cloud-based products, built on a single global technology platform, and supported by unparalleled customer care to help small businesses and web designers succeed online.

HEG owns WorldHostingDays and NamesCon brands and conferences, which are prominent in the global website hosting and domain communities. GoDaddy announced on its website that it will continue to operate these brands independently and invest in their continued growth.

The acquisition of HEG and WorldHostingDays means that the NamesCon conference will have a new owner next year. This comes less than four months after WorldHostingDays bought NamesCon that was started in 2014 by co-Founders Richard Lau and Jothan Frakes.
