Global Switch begins construction of USD 134 million German data center

The data center, which is a part of Global Switch’s expansion plan across Europe, aims to provide customers with a wide choice of cloud facilitators.

Co-location and data center company Global Switch have begun the construction of their USD 134 million data center ar Frankfurt, Germany. With this data center, Global Switch seeks to provide customers with a wide choice of cloud and network providers to envision their expansion strategy across new markets in Europe.

According to Global Switch, Europe is a lucrative market for cloud and data center services since organizations in the region have started moving their critical workloads to cloud environments. They say that this trend is seen not only witnessed across Europe but also in the APAC (Asia Pacific) region.

By constructing a new facility in north Frankfurt, Global Switch claim that they will be leveraging the network of the facility at south Frankfurt to provide high-grade data center services furnished with energy-efficient equipment. They claim that the facility which will span across 11,000 sq.meters of space with 14 MVA (Mega Volt Amp) of utility power will provide large-scale, carrier and cloud neutral data center services.

Speaking about the data center, Aman Khan, Managing Director for Global Switch Frankfurt, commented:
