Ensono to buy Wipro’s data center business for USD 405M

The acquisition seeks to expand Ensono’s global footprint in a bid to consolidate data center services for their customers.

Hybrid IT solutions provider Ensono is all set to acquire Wipro’s data center business for USD 405M in a bid to extend their data center footprint. With this acquisition, Ensono will gain access to Wipro’s eight data centers and more than 900 employees.

According to Ensono, adopting a buy strategy as opposed to build will allow them to extend their clientele globally. Speaking about this in detail, Jeff VonDeylen, CEO at Ensono commented:

This particular acquisition and partnership with Wipro substantially increases our ability to scale and service our growing client portfolio. We are increasing our geographic presence by expanding our data center operations in Germany, UK and the US, as well as establishing an operational presence in India.

Wipro say that they will be investing USD 55 million in Ensono and together they will be focusing on customers’ hybrid IT needs. Emphasizing on this newly adopted strategy, Kiran Desai, Senior Vice President of Global Infrastructure Services at Wipro, commented:

As we embrace our strategy of focusing on newer digital areas of spend, our strategic investment and partnership with Ensono will enable us to remain committed to meeting the hosted data center services requirements of our customers.

In closing, Ensono added that this is their third acquisition of the year with further acquisitions in the pipeline.
