Global data center facilitator CyrusOne will be undergoing a major data center expansion in Virginia, USA after purchasing a huge portion of land in the region. With this expansion, CyrusOne seeks to meet rising demand for data center services from cloud-native as well as enterprise customers.

According to CyrusOne, the IT boom in North America coupled with the rising adoption of cloud products and services have increased dependencies on co-location as well as data center services. They say that these dependencies need to be channelised by providing enough infrastructure to businesses and helping them manage mission-critical workloads.

To meet this growing demand, CyrusOne say that they have purchased a large piece of land to build a new campus and support the demand rise in the region. They say that this data center facility will be furnished with state-of-the-art equipment and provide over 160 megawatts of power.

Speaking about this expansion, Tesh Durvasula, Chief Commercial Officer at CyrusOne, commented:

Hyperscalers demand warp speed, and we’re proud to be accelerating from zero to 160 in Northern Virginia, driven by demand from cloud and enterprise customers.

Our land acquisition, development, construction, and capital markets teams continue to execute at a level unmatched in the industry to produce the inventory necessary to meet the ongoing need for new capacity in Northern Virginia and other key markets.
