CyrusOne has announced the purchase of land located at 32W 130 Molitor Road, Aurora. The company has bought about 23 acres land which is located adjacent to the suburban Chicago data center which CyrusOne acquired from CME Group earlier in April.

The newly purchased land is planned for development over the next several years and is expected to leverage a shared ecosystem with CyrusOne’s existing Aurora facility.

Kevin Timmons, Chief technology Officer, CyrusOne said :

This new land purchase enables CyrusOne to stay ahead of the rapid growth in colocation demand within the Chicago market, particularly among financial services companies.

Upon completion, buildings across the campus are expected to have seamless connectivity to the world’s largest futures exchange, and provide customers with access to a wide range of retail colocation services, cloud connectivity, and carriers.

CyrusOne acquired the current Aurora data center located in suburban Chicago in April which expanded CyrusOne’s portfolio to more than 30 data centers across the United States and overseas. The transaction included a 428,000 sq.ft. facility, 15 acres of land and provided customers with connectivity and proximity to the CME Globex platform.
