Telecom giants AT&T have entered into a partnership with data center company Equinix to provide on-demand capabilities to AT&T’s customers. With this alliance, AT&T’s cloud-native customers will be able to provide voice, data and video applications quickly and at scale by capitalizing on Equinix’s International Business Exchange (IBX), a collection of strategically located data centers.

AT&T say that their customers using Switched Ethernet Service with Network on Demand for faster and low latency communication will get a competitive edge in the market through Equinix’s widespread data centers. They further added that the can also add scale by upping their bandwidth within minutes.

Explaining this, Roman Pacewicz, chief product officer, AT&T Business said:

A dynamic network can differentiate a company. This is a critical move for many customers as they continue on their digital transformation and look to adopt technologies that require optimal speed and performance. Our work with Equinix lets us deliver the physical infrastructure and network connectivity options to support our customers’ evolving business needs.

Echoing his thoughts, Charles Meyers, president, Strategy, Services and Innovation, Equinix commented:

Today’s digital business environment demands high-performing, agile network operations. Cloud and data center services must offer the scalability and reliability that IT managers require while helping enterprises rapidly scale their operations globally. As businesses are increasingly adopting the cloud, we are providing customers with the agility, connectivity and interconnection opportunities they need to compete and grow their businesses on a global scale.

AT&T say that with this alliance, they have further deepened their 10-year-old business relationship with Equinix, who have been providing data-networking services to businesses with them. It would be compelling to witness how customers make the most of this on-demand capability provided by both parties.
