The partnership seeks to facilitate service providers with security across NFV, cloud, data center and on-prem networks.

Software service provider Amdocs have announced a strategic alliance with SD-WAN (Software-Defined Wide Area Network) provider Versa Networks and cyber security solutions company Fortinet. As per the terms of the deal, the trio will work towards facilitating service providers with security across NFV (Network Function Virtualization), cloud, data center and on-premise networks.

According to Amdocs, IT and cloud service providers deploy various networks to improve speed and connectivity for enhanced communication. They say that these networks allow providers to have more agility, in turn reducing the time-to-market business applications as well as time-to-reach business goals.

By partnering with Versa Networks and Fortinet, Amdocs claim that they will orchestrate and leverage SD-WAN, NFV and SDN technologies to produce cyber security solutions. They say that with this approach, Amdocs will be able to support OSS/BSS systems, enabling service providers to monetize and quickly deploy their security solution to reduce CapEx as well as OpEx.

Speaking about the alliance, Angela Logothetis, CTO of Amdocs Open Network, commented:

Our SD-WAN solution reduces the time and risk of launching SD-WAN services, and delivers agility, automation and scale in SD-WAN operations, ensuring faster time-to-market, quick monetization, and differentiated customer experience.

Together, Amdocs, Fortinet, and Versa Networks enable service providers to enhance their competitive positioning by transforming the business WAN-edge with software-defined networking, advanced security services and end-to-end orchestration, offering scalability and flexibility through managed SD-WAN and value-added services.

Fortinet believe that the cyber security solutions provided by the alliance will allow service providers to scale seamlessly and accelerate multiple deployments at ease. Thrilled with this partnership, John Maddison, Senior Vice President of Products and Solutions at Fortinet, commented:

The Fortinet Security Fabric’s open ecosystem and ease of integration with complementary technologies and services helps meet the most demanding customer requirements while providing better security and lower total cost of ownership.

We’re pleased to work closely with Amdocs as a Fabric-Ready Partner to offer our joint customers the option to leverage Fortinet’s broad portfolio of advanced security and networking solutions, including Fortinet SD-WAN.

With more software-defined NFV solutions being introduced, service providers can facilitate a wide range of solutions to their customers. Industry patrons claim that the SDN-NFV market is all set to grow with such deals, especially after Netcracker launched their own cloud-based software-defined networking solution very recently.
