Altiscale, Inc. recently introduced a new solution, the Altiscale Insight Cloud, a self-service analytics solution for Big Data. The leading provider of Big Data-as-a-Service launched ‘The Insight Cloud’ that lets ordinary business users ingest data into a data lake, conduct SQL queries over that data lake, build dynamic visualizations and conduct analytics via real-time dashboards, along with other reporting and analytics functionality. In addition to Tableau and Excel, other familiar business intelligence (BI) tools such as Qlik and MicroStrategy can be used.

For the typical enterprise, providing access to Big Data for business analysts is complex, slow, and expensive. It often involves significant IT time and resources, as well as the use of pricey proprietary solutions that are not necessarily fastest medium between Big Data and the data visualization applications. As a solution that simplifies the connection between Big Data and the end user, as well as bypasses the need for expensive, proprietary solutions, the Altiscale Insight Cloud makes it fast and easy for business analysts to benefit from the rich, detailed data held in the Hadoop data lake.

The Altiscale Insight Cloud achieves its speed and simplicity through a converged architecture, eliminating the need for a separate relational data store for aggregated data. This reduces the cost and management burden on the organization, while allowing easier scalability from tens of terabytes to petabytes. The converged architecture also minimizes data movement and replication across environments.

“We are excited about the Altiscale Insight Cloud, since it will accelerate and expand our ability to get insights from our data and share those insights across the company,” said Richard Au, Sr. Technical Director at GluPlay, a studio at Glu Mobile, a leading mobile gaming studio whose games include the fan-favorite DASH series of games like Diner Dash and Cooking Dash. “As a fast-growing organization with global customers, we want to ensure that our managers across the world have the ability to access and analyze the latest and greatest information. The Altiscale Insight Cloud will allow us to do this quickly and affordably, connecting to our existing Tableau implementation.”
